Line up announced for 21st National Equine Forum
Event will be held during March next year in London

It has been announced that the 21st National Equine Forum will take place on Tuesday 5th March 2013 at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, London, and will cover a vibrant range of equestrian topics.

The National Equine Forum is an impartial event and the only one of its kind to be held in the UK. Each year it brings together all sectors of the UK’s equestrian industry to listen to and debate the latest equestrian news, views and research. The 2013 programme should provide a diverse range of topics of interest to every aspect of the equestrian sector.

The line up for the event will bring together a panel of prestigious speakers with Ed Bracher, Chief Executive of Riding for the Disabled, opening the proceedings. Other speakers include The Right Honourable Owen Paterson, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs who is an experienced horseman, as well as experts from the USA and Ireland.

The Olympics and Paralympics will also be on the agenda. Hugh Robertson MP, the Minister for Sport, will give a general overview of London 2012.  This will be followed by an Olympic horse breeder/owner and a competitor talking about the thrills of the show jumping competition and an Olympic and a Paralympic dressage competitor discussing their outstanding experiences at the games.

In the final presentation of the day Pieter Brama DVM, PhD, Dipl. RNVA, Dipl. ECVS Professor of Veterinary Surgery at the University College Dublin, will discuss whether horses are ready to race as two-year-olds.

The National Equine Forum is organised by a committee of individuals reflecting various sectors of the equestrian industry and HRH The Princess Royal stands as its President.

BSAVA publishes Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice

The BSAVA has added a small animal nutrition advice booklet to its series of BSAVA guides.

The BSAVA Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice offers a resource for veterinary professionals to provide appropriate nutrition for animals. As well as maintaining the wellbeing of healthy pets, the guide explores how nutritional requirements change in times of illness and disease.

The guide is divided into five sections, which explore the importance of nutritional assessment; diet types; feeding at different life stages; feeding for specific situations; and feeding for specific diseases. Online resources are also in the BSAVA Library including client handouts and videos.

It is designed to be suitable for referencing, in-depth case planning and team training sessions.

The BSAVA Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice can be purchased online from the BSAVA store.
