New Award for Equine Diagnostic Imaging
EAVDI Alistair Nelson Award nominees sought

The European Association of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (British and Irish Division) have set up a new award to promote the field of Equine Diagnostic Imaging. Founded in honour of the late Alistair Nelson (pictured), an expert in the field of Equine Diagnostic Imaging and pioneer of Standing Equine Computed Tomography whose death at 46 was felt keenly by the profession, the new Award will grant a sum of £150 to cover the travel and registration expenses of a veterinary surgeon attending a scientific congress to present a clinical research abstract in the field of equine diagnostic imaging.

To apply for the award, an abstract (Max. 400 words) and accompanying letter should be submitted to the Chair of EAVDI-BID by 31st March of the year of the presentation. One application is allowed per veterinary surgeon, and a surgeon may only receive the award on one occasion. If there are multiple applications for the award in a year, the EAVDI-BID committee will determine whether the fund will be awarded in total to a single candidate, or split between several. The candidates will be informed of the committee's decision by the end of May of that year. If there are no applications received by the 31st March, there will be no award that year.

Details on how to contact the Chair of the EAVDI-BID can be found here

RCVS Regional Question Time heads to Edinburgh

The RCVS is to bring its Regional Question Time (RQT) to Edinburgh for 2026.

The event will take place at Novotel Edinburgh Park in Edinburgh on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

It will begin with supper and drinks at 6.30pm, with an evening programme from 7.30pm. This will start with an update on RCVS' activities, followed by questions and answers with representatives.

RCVS is encouraging an 'open dialogue', in which queries can be raised in a friendly, informal environment.

While discussions are expected to be audience-led, the RQT is expected address major issues including the VSA, the CMA's remedy package and the VN Vision project.

Tim Parkin, RCVS president, said: "It's an important time for the professions, and I'm looking forward to meeting colleagues in Scotland as we navigate this period of change together so we can come out stronger."

Tickets can be booked here.
