Waste Regulations
Do you need to comply with regulations relating to waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)? The Environment Agency is offering free and impartial advice at two free 'surgery style' events in the South West.

Staff from the Agency will be available to answer questions from businesses on their responsibilities relating to WEEE, batteries, packaging or hazardous waste in a pre-booked half hour slot. The advice will help companies decide if they are legally obligated under the regulations.

Companies that may be interested in this event might be manufacturers , rebranders or importers of electrical and electronic equipment or they may be a company that adds packaging to products, or handles hazardous waste. This legislation applies to many businesses carrying out these day-to-day activities.

The advice days are taking place at:
•  X Centre, Commercial Road, Exeter EX2 4AD on the 3rd  March 2010
•  The Green House, Chelson Meadow Recycling Centre, Plymouth PL1 2AA on the 10th  March 2010

The days aim to provide advice tailored to the businesses' need in a half hour pre-booked slot. People who want to take part in the event should contact Rosalind Keenan on 01392 316180 or email rosalind.keen@environment-agency.gov.uk to book an appointment. Appointments vary in time according to needs and are available on a first come first served basis.

BSAVA publishes Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice

The BSAVA has added a small animal nutrition advice booklet to its series of BSAVA guides.

The BSAVA Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice offers a resource for veterinary professionals to provide appropriate nutrition for animals. As well as maintaining the wellbeing of healthy pets, the guide explores how nutritional requirements change in times of illness and disease.

The guide is divided into five sections, which explore the importance of nutritional assessment; diet types; feeding at different life stages; feeding for specific situations; and feeding for specific diseases. Online resources are also in the BSAVA Library including client handouts and videos.

It is designed to be suitable for referencing, in-depth case planning and team training sessions.

The BSAVA Guide to Nutrition in Small Animal Practice can be purchased online from the BSAVA store.
