Endoscopy series added to BSAVA's Client Information Leaflets
An annual subscription of £40 gives the user access to the entire range of leaflets, including canine and feline behaviour, exotic pets and medicines.

The leaflets are designed to help pet owners understand the procedures.

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has released a new series of client information leaflets on endoscopic examinations.

Covering upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, laparoscopy, laryngoscopy and tracheobronchoscopy, otoendoscopy, rhinoscopy and urethrocystoscopy, the leaflets are designed to make the procedures more understandable for pet owners.

Created to be used as part of the veterinary consultation, the leaflets explain what is involved in the examination, reasons for the procedure, required preparation, associated risks, and what occurs both during and after the examination.

Philip Lhermette, specialist in minimally invasive surgery and past president of the BSAVA, commented: “Minimally invasive surgery is becoming commonplace in general veterinary practice and is much sought after by clients, especially for routine procedures such as bitch spays.

“It is important that clients are properly informed of all the risks and benefits of a minimally invasive procedure and these leaflets provide the first opinion practitioner with an ideal means of providing such information in a succinct and easily understood format.”

Available via the BSAVA Library, the entire range of client information leaflets is available for an annual subscription of £40. BSAVA members have access to these as part of their membership benefits.
