Caerphilly Council has voted in favour of a ban the giving of pets as prizes on land owned by the local authority.
RSPCA Cymru said it was “great news for animal welfare, particularly goldfish”. The move makes Caerphilly only the second council in Wales to introduce a ban, and the first to raise the issue in public.
The motion was brought forward to full council by Councillor James Pritchard, who gave evidence in September, alongside RSPCA Cymru. It was passed unanimously on Wednesday evening (23 October).

FIVP has shared a survey, inviting those working in independent practice to share their views on the CMA's proposed remedies.
