Chris Packham
Chris Packham will share his concerns about extinction at BSAVA Congress 2017.

Wildlife expert will deliver keynote speech

Respected naturalist and TV personality Chris Packham will deliver the keynote speech at BSAVA’s 60th anniversary Congress.

With his enthusiasm for conservation and wildlife, Mr Packham will share his concerns about extinction and ideas for inspiring young people to get involved in animal welfare and conservation.

Set to inspire delegates on the first day of congress, he follows in the footsteps of Mark Beaumont, Alice Roberts and Richard Dawkins.

On accepting the invitation, Mr Packham said: "The veterinary profession are in a particularly pertinent position to make a difference. I will use the passion to learn that’s brought into BSAVA Congress to encourage the profession to work together to change the world.’’

Fascinated by tadpoles and ladybirds in his parent’s back garden, Chris Packham’s passion for wildlife began before he could even speak.

After completing degree in Zoology and developing an interest in photography, Chris began his presenting career with the award winning Really Wild Show in 1996.

His recent credits include Inside the Animal Mind, Nature’s Weirdest, The Burrowers and Secrets of our Living Planet. He currently presents Springwatch, Autumnwatch & Winterwatch (BBC Two).

‘‘I shall be delighted to welcome Chris to BSAVA Congress,”commented BSAVA President Susan Dawson. “His enthusiasm and genuine excitement as a conservationist is guaranteed delight delegates, whilst highlight really important issues that are a concern for us all.’’

Chris Packham’s keynote is free to attend for anyone with a lecture pass to BSAVA Congress 2017. Registration is now open for Congress online at www.bsavacongress.com, with early bird rates available until 31 January, 2017.
