VNonline to exhibit at BVNA Congress
Online resource to celebrate first birthday at Telford event

The team behind VNonline, a website dedicated to providing the latest veterinary nursing news, careers and events, will be exhibiting at the BVNA Congress this month, offering gifts and prizes at the stand, as well as live reporting on the event.

After launching at last year's congress, the team are pleased to be heading back for this significant year - the 40th BVNA Congress - having built upon their community of veterinary nurses over the past 12 months.

VNonline provides the latest industry updates and breaking news, such as research on laminitis and seasonal canine illness, the new RCVS Code of Conduct app for nurses and new treatments for conditions such as allergic skin disease.

During the three-day event, the team will be speaking to veterinary nurses from stand no. P5, to find out what which topics in the veterinary nursing world are of the most interest to them.

All those that sign up to the website during the event will receive a VNonline branded lip balm and slip lead, as well as free entry into a prize draw. There will be two opportunities to win a £50 Love2shop voucher on the Friday and Saturday.

Reporters will also be roaming around wearing VNonline branded t-shirts during the event to find out about all the latest developments, launches and other goings-on at the congress.

Head to stand no. P5 during the event and register with VNonline to receive your free gifts as well as a chance to win prizes. In the meantime, you can contact the team by email to let them know which topics you would like to see included on the website.

Practices urged to audit neutering data

News Story 1
RCVS Knowledge has called on vet practices to audit their post-operative neutering outcomes.

It follows the release of the 2024 NASAN benchmarking report, which collates data from neutering procedures performed on dogs, cats and rabbits.

The benchmarking report enables practices in the UK and Ireland to compare their post-operative outcomes to the national average. This includes the rate of patients lost to follow-up, which in 2024 increased to 23 per cent.

Anyone from the practice can submit the data using a free template. The deadline for next report is February 2026.

Visit the RCVS Knowledge website to complete an audit.

RCVS pays tribute to well-loved equine vet

The RCVS and the Riding Establishments Subcommittee has paid tribute to well-loved veterinary surgeon and riding establishment inspector, Rebecca Hamilton-Fletcher MRCVS.

Linda Belton MRCVS, RCVS President, said: "I, along with my colleagues on the RESC, RCVS Council, RCVS Standards Committee, as well as RCVS staff, was very saddened to hear of the sudden death of Rebecca, or Becca as we knew her, last week.

"She was a true advocate for equine welfare and in her many years on the RESC worked to continually improve the quality and consistency of riding establishment inspections, all in the interests of enhanced horse welfare and rider safety."
