Britain's Cleverest Cat announced
Benny

Winning cat performs dog tricks for owner

Benny, a black and white cat from Leigh-on-Sea in Essex, has been voted Britain's Cleverest Cat.

The winning video sees Benny performing dog tricks for his owner Emilie Muggleton, including jumping, standing on his hind legs, giving his paw and laying down.

The competition has been running since March 28, with entries from up and down the country being whittled down to just three finalists.

Sending the vote to the public, it was Benny who came out top as the favourite for showing off his impressive skills.

An advert starring the nation's most clever cat was aired on Saturday 8 June during the Britain's Got Talent Final, in celebration of Felix, the company behind the competition, sponsoring the show.

Lords Committee opens Pet Parasite Medication inquiry

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will launch its inquiry into Pet Parasite Medication (PPM) on Wednesday (3 June).

Focusing on treatments containing fipronil and imidacloprid, the inquiry will seek to understand distribution pathways and the impacts of PPM use and non-use on biodiversity and human health. It will also cover current regulation, monitoring, and the potential implications for pets and their owners.

The committee will hear evidence from environmental non-governmental organisations and research institutes. The public can follow the proceedings live on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster.
