39th annual Congress to take place in Telford.

The British Veterinary Nursing Association has released further details about its 39th annual Congress, to be held in Telford International Centre from the 5th - 7th October 2012.

The three-day event is widely recognised as the largest dedicated veterinary nursing Congress in Europe and boasts a dedicated programme aimed at all levels of veterinary nursing staff.

This year, an additional lecture stream has been added, meaning delegates will have the choice of five tiered lecture streams over the three days, providing over 100 hours of COD along with 18 practical interactive workshops.

Another addition to this year's programme is the Pre-Congress Equine CPD Day, which will be held on Thursday 4th October. This will offer equine nurses a full day of informative lectures, and for those wishing to attend both the CPD Day and Friday's Congress, there is a special discounted registration available via the website.

And, of course, there will be the usual sparkling social events, including a "Best of British' happy hour, a Charity Race Night in aid of the Retired Greyhounds Trust and an 80s-themed dinner dance!

New Animal Abuse book launching

A new book entitled Animal Abuse - Helping Animals and People, is to be launched at an event jointly organised by CABI and the RCVS Charitable Trust on June 4, 2013. Issues covered in the book include foie gras production, pedigree dog breeding, veterinary forensics and the link between human and animal abuse.

Authored by Catherine Tiplady, the book draws on her experience as a shelter worker and veterinary surgeon, providing practical advice through interviews, case studies and dealing with difficulties. The launch - which takes place in London from 6:00-8:00pm - will provide the opportunity to meet the author and discuss topics dealt with in the book. Click here for more information.
